Character Description and History

Ged’s main piece of equipment is his studded leather armor, which has a faint rose undertone causing the brown armor to appear almost purple in some lights. It has a few neatly stitched, but very noticeable scars on it. A tooled picture of the rising sun on its reinforced headpiece adorns it. He will only wear armor if he really expects trouble as he finds it uncomfortable and unnecessarily restrictive. He wears a magical ring given to him by the Abbot of Montelegro that summons a shield and will lower his AC to 6 when he is wearing his armor or 9 when he is not. He carries any of a number of shillelagh type walking sticks, which he has collected over the years as his only weapon.

He has a medium backpack sufficient for a few days food, a change of clothes, a tinderbox, a bedroll and a few other small misc. items. He will often carry some cord or leather thongs for securing other things on the outside of his pack. His tinderbox contains some flammable material to facilitate firestarting under less than ideal conditions. His mess kit is well crafted and compact, having been bought from a traveling Gondian specialty priest many years back. It’s leather pouch contains a sauce/soup pot, a light frying pan and two tin dishes, as well as utensils for two and a place to put herb vials.

He carries a side pouch of vials, bandages, cutting tools, tweezers, poultices, salves, and other tools of the healing and herbalism trade. The pouch opens like a suitcase. He always carries mild and strong stimulants, mild and strong pain killers, mild and strong sedatives (including sleep poison), wound ointment, antiseptic wound wash, burn ointment, common poison antidotes, some kind of nutritional supplement that stimulates tissue regrowth (in a powder form that can be made into a broth for traveling), common disease treatments, eye salve (blindness treatment), insect repellant and various symptomatic treatments (coughing, runny nose, some kind of anti itch thing, etc.). He may carry other things as the situation calls for.

He secures his tunic and breeches with a wide, stiff leather belt with leather pockets all the way around that hold his spell components. It is sturdy enough to wear on the outside of his armor. A usual assortment includes: a few vials of holy water, a strip of blessed vellum for the detect poison spell, a few sprigs of foxfire, holly berries, a candle, a sprig of pine, a few sticks of incense, a small silver framed mirror, a few small strips of white cloth prepared for the “Aid” spell, a few pieces of oak bark, a leaf of sumac, a small piece of iron as per the “Hold Person” spell, a drop of mercury and a few cloves of garlic. (This may expand when I get to look at the spells from the tome of magic.)

Aside from his holy symbol, a sturdy pair of boots, a wine skin, a whisky flask and his change purse Ged’s only other possessions are a few pairs of the robes of his order, and a few serviceable pairs of tunics and breeches. In the winter he will wear a padded, oiled canvas outer jacket.

Ged is the first Springlord in the Beregost area for many generations. He will not be acknowleged formally until next Greengrass but has demonstrated the special abilitys of a Springlord for some time. He has always abided by the restrictions. He is a pillar of the community and well liked even when he is in trouble with higher ranking clergy or the secular powers. His Superiors within the temple would like him to stay at home more than he does as they are not keen to the idea of losing such a valuble community reasource because he has an itch to crawl around in holes or poke around in ruins. He has gone on a few minor ambassitorial or investigative missions for, or at least under the authority of his church however. His friend Thalus often accompanies him on official and personal business.
