Hi guys,

my Question ist about how to build a dwarven realm. Sure, i could build it on my own, and with a lot of free decisions, but i wanted to know if there are some books which include information about the size of dwarven cities, like in the dungeon masters book. or, how big a clan ist, and what member a clan contains. Something like a scale where i just need to roll a dice.

what about a city map. are there specific districts, every dwarven city has? is it a 2d city, oder 3d, with differnt levels of living, divided into faith, politics, craft an so on.

Maps, maps, and more maps. And not no stinkin' miniatures maps, either.

If one wants to look for 'used items' in second hand stores, Ebay etc. there was a Dragonlance boxed set on Dwarves of Krynn which included maps and other details on dwarves. Granted several items are certainly not Realms specific, but there are loads of ideas in there that apply to dwarves in general...

These PDFs of TSR products are called ESDs -- electronic software downloads.

Understood. that's what i meant. If a player asks me for say MAZTICA ( first one on list on that page) i can push the link, just not burn it and ive it to them. got it.

Thank guys.

Not shared by you. Only by WotC, and those they specifically give the rights to share them. You can, however, pass on or post the link a thousand times, as I have done.

good plan. Thanks. I wasn't planning on trading or distributing them, But with the above post saying:

I missunderstood. Don't wory. I am not planning on trading or distributing them. I did it for myself cause a 5 pound laptop is lighter than 60+ hardbacks and modules when going to a D&D session

EDIT:

What is an ESD?

SO then my scanning of all 450 of my printed 2nd ed books, modules, and errata are fine, cause I own them?

As long as you don't distribute or sell them to anyone. That means you can't distribute or sell them to anyone via the net, CD's you might burn, etc.

Note: I'm not a lawyer and I don't know the laws of the countries outside of the USA.

Lucianb, I would suggest that you may wish to check with the copyright laws of the US before you attempt something like this.

I would help out gladly - but that is Wolly's job, really! Wolly, get started!

Sorry, that's not on my list of useful links. I just keep the link for the Wizards downloads page handy.

Rpgnow.com or paizo's web site. Do a search for paizo for the link to last one. :)

WotC has authorized several on-line retailers to sell pdf's of previous edition D&D products. These are all products that WotC decided not to distribute for free on their own web site.

You buy them and own them - just like the original paper products. However, you do not have the legal rights to re-sell or redistribute those pdf's.
LucianBarasu Posted - 11 Dec 2006 : 09:46:42
So then, is like all 2nd edition stuff like, legal to PDF and share? cause i'd figure that'd be a no no?

Lost Empires of Faerun also mentions several fallen dwarven realms, so you could get an idea of where the dwarves you are detailing come from, since that is definately an important thing to know with dwarves.
Ergdusch Posted - 08 Dec 2006 : 08:44:01
Most definitly check out Dwarves Deep. The best dwarven source around IMO and on top one of those great best FR sources from 2nd. Ed. covering much lore. As well, you might want to take a look into Races of Faerun, where all major and minor dwarven races are listed. Further you might get some good ideas of how a stronghold is set up by looking into the details given about the major dwarven clans of the north, covered in Silver Marches.

That is what I can think of fromthe top of my head.

Though it pains me to say it, you can get a lot more useful information on dwarves in general from Dragonlance products. They have novels and whole trilogies dedicated to dwarves and dwarven protagonists. Their dwarf source book was pretty top notch too. Aside from that, check the 2E Dwarves handbook and Races of Stone. Also, you'll want to get Delzounblood in on this as I believe that he's compiling a book o ye stout ones.
