thanks for the link Chosen of Moradin, though I think I'm still a little confused So, the current Khelben is actually the original Khelben, in disguise? If so, how has he lived so long? And also if so, DANG he's been a busy man! Look at all those kids!
You´re welcome! As a Chosen of the goddess Mystra, Khelben will not die by age (like Tolkien´s elves). The same is true to Elminster, the Seven Sisters, and some more obscure persons in the Realms. |

So what is Khelben's past? I know he saved Laeral, and he stole that scepter which Fzoul used to destroy a banelich- did Khelben intend for this to happen? And what were the Harpers like in the past?
kaeso, you can find more about Khelben´s past lookint right here.

Posted - 21 Jul 2006 : 04:49:51 There's a great deal of backstory to those questions.
Fortunately, Ed's Code of the Harpers touches on some of it -- especially with what the Harpers were like in the past.

Posted - 21 Jul 2006 : 03:56:10 With the Harper Schism, the Harpers basically split into three camps:
1)Pro-Twilight Hall; "Khelben's a bad guy, now." 2)Pro-Khelben; "Lay off of him, guys, he's not done us wrong in the past." 3)Neutral; "Who cares who did what, there's Zhents and Thayans to deal with."
The Twilight Hall faction tends to follow Bran Skorlsun, who's got a serious beef with Khelben. That beef, and Khelben's unexplained theft of the Scepter of the Sorcerer-Kings, which he gave to Fzoul, tends to make this faction really not trust Khelben. He stole from them to aid their enemies, it appears...
So that's why that faction doesn't like the Tel'Teukiira.
There's two major differences between the two groups. The Tel'Teukiira answers only to Khelben, instead of a council of senior Harpers, and the Tel'Teukiira is more like the Harpers of old, rather than the pro-good group the current Harpers have become. |

They aren't on bad terms with each other, necessarily. They just serve different purposes. |
