Here's something we came up with and don't know how to deal with.

A half-elf/half-celestial (eladrin maybe)
A half-human/half-fiend (devil maybe)

If these two somehow got together and got themselves a kid that turns out to be a 1/4 human, 1/4 elf, 1/4 celestial and 1/4 fiend, how would the child's racial traits turn out? Would the celestial and fiendish blood negate each other in some areas? How would others react?

Thanks for the replies

It does sound fun though when 'creating' people so screwed up in bloodlines. Like the half-goblin/half-kobold army idea which lasted as long as it wasn't going to be used.

Yeah--decide whether or not it's tiefling or aasimar by flipping a coin. At least, that's my idea. Although, personally I think the topic example is the result of "breeding overkill". Your character doesn't need a unique/bizarre heritage to be interesting. Besides, it's not like the character arranged their own birth, so in a way it wouldn't be anything for them to be proud of.

My favorite character was a half-slug.

(More On Topic now..)

I'd say an Aasimar or Tiefling, as well.

It states in Savage Species, that you can add multiple templates. When adding two halves you get quarters.

So your character might be a Half-elf base (Human + Elf = Half-elf) with a quarter-Fiend (Half-fiend) template plus a quarter-Celestial (Half-celestial) template. The only glitch is that to become a half Fiend/Celestial, the template character must have a certain alignment. But it is also in the rules to break the rules if needed.

WotC has an episode in in Elite Opponents that has Vampire Demons, Half-golem Warforged and a half-fiend Astral Devas as possible monsters. So it is possible to have a screwy character, if you can manage it.

That's right.

In fact, I'm pretty sure one of the older PSMCs mentioned this.

hmm ... how is the blood divided at a half-elf/half-celestial/Fiend anyways?
1/4 elf 1/4 human 1/2 Celestial/fiend? (which practicly makes it a Celestial/Fiend since its the major part)
Kaladorm Posted - 05 Aug 2006 : 16:17:14
Well I'd imagine it would go one of two ways.
1. Like you say the celestial/fiendish cancel out and there is no more powerful effect
2. The stronger bloodline would dominate, and effectively the character would have only a celestial or fiendish bloodline

A half-celestial (and half-fiendish) as I understand it are direct products of a full blooded celestial(/fiend) and so I don't believe a half-celestial can be created by a half-celestial and something else.
