Richard Baker has mentioned, on his Ask Richard Baker thread over at WotC, that they got something in store for the good guys of the Realms!
So now I sit here guessing just what kind of book that could be. As it will be out 4th quarter of 2005 at the earliest, I'm really curious.
I have always wanted a book on the goodly groups and organizations of the Realms as they were mostly neglected.
So, lets guess together.
What might be inside this book? Will it be the long discussed "Lords of Light"?
Who might be featured, apart from the obvious (Harpers, Moonstars, Lords Alliance)?

And the one time of recent, the FRCS, Arilyn gets completely miscast as a Harper Scout.. which woulda been fine if it weren't for the fact that the class was a spellcaster class and completely opposite to her character. |

It would be truly awesome if that was the case. I much prefer the Moonstars to the traditional Harpers. |

Hmm, but aren't they currently Moonstar's not Harpers I am wondering if there is going to be more information on the MoonStar's avaliable in the Upcoming Book on Waterdeep. |

I'd be surprised if we get that and shocked at much more than a little blurb. After all, we're talking about characters that haven't been featured in any recent Realms novel for several years. |

Well... If it covers the Harpers, it'll mention prominent ones. And Arilyn and Danilo are pretty prominent, to the fans... So I think it's safe to say we'll see at least a little stat blurb for them. |

Well, I'd like to see infos about the Emerald enclave or special Paladin Organizations (Tantras would be an easy thought)
maybe ,maybe some things about the Seven Sisters because only three of them were really mentioned in the Campaign set
oh, and the name of the book is "champions of valor" if I remember correctly  |

I think they went a bit overboard when they finally lifted the "villains can't win" restriction and in the original 3rd edition books only a handful of the "big guns" showed up. If nothing else, it would be nice to have some Harper/Moonstar agents that PCs could cozy up to in order to be sponsored, etc. |

I'm glad such a concept is finally being worked up though, and Thomas M. Reid's involvement only makes it that much more superb, for me at least.
Speculation on the "good" organisations to be included are bound to follow.

I'm guessing that a "good guys" book would be more in the style of Lords of Darkness than Champions of Ruin - the latter focuses on evil campaigns and how to play/portray evil in the Realms from what I've seen and read.
And I'm thrilled that Thomas Reid is on board - it all augurs well. Of course, he may have a partner in crime - SKR asked on his website message boards a while back about good organisations of the Realms. Interesting ...

I would like to see a book on the good guys but preferably in a Lords of Darkness style. I'm not sold on Champions of Ruin by any stretch of the imagination to be honest.
And of course any regional book would be great. |

Although a Cormyr sourcebook would be very nice (well, almost any regional sourcebook would be good simply because the last four have been fantastic), I think that a goody-goody two-boots book would be a must have for my campaign as well.

As an aside, although we know about the Harpers and their fluffy stuff, I'm not at all pleased with the current state of the 'rules' supporting Harpers; what with Harper Agents, Harper Paragons, Harper Mages, Harper Priests, etc. etc.  Please, for the love of the miniature giant hamsters that Wooly keeps in his pockets, can someone definitively clear up my player's confusions.

Back on topic, I hope that if they do touch on good organizations, we can finally get some fluffy info on the Knights of Barakmordin, the caravan group that might be a front for the Harpers (forget the name) and see some real development of a lot of groups that fall by the wayside. Thumpers of the Thumpers, 12 Lords of Imphras a'leaping, etc. 
That was a nice bit of poking Mr. Reid with a stick but I'll leave it at that. *poke poke*

From certain hints Ed's dropped at our Realmsplay sessions, I don't think any Cormyr sourcebook can be that close to being published.
My bet would be a Champions of Ruin good-guys-equivalent.

Well Sirious.
I would have done so when I opened the topic but for some reason the wizards boards are off limits for me, meaning they won't load anymore.
Just before typing this I had a waiting time of about 15 minutes until my machine told me "the document contains no data" while trying to connect to the boards.
He mentioned it in response to someone asking about a book on good organizationson on the thread where he answers questions if I remember correctly.
As soon as I can connect to the thread I shall post a link, but it is really just a small sentence saying something like "we got something in store for the good guys".

My best guess is that just as Champions of Ruin is supposed to be an exploration of playing evil in the Realms, sort of a Realms version of Book of Vile Darkness, I speculate that the "good guy" book he's talking about just might be a sort of Book of Exalted Deeds style companion piece to Champions of Ruin that explores playing good in the Realms.
As to the contents, well it might have information about the chosen of Mystra, the Magister, the Harpers, Moonstars and other good organizations. Information on paladin and divine champion orders would be in order. It might feature select celestial lords, proxies, or paragons.
I think such a book would be a great idea, and I would surely buy it! |

I think that given Ed's slight hints (on his questions thread and the best of the realms thread) and with certain NDA warnings given on his thread we may get the long awaited updated Cormyr regional accessory.
I think its a much requested piece, both by fans and FR designers and it is definitely due a release in the next year or two. |
