Well met

So after we've visited The Dungeons and The Citadels in FR novels, it looks like we're off to The Wilds:

I'm not familiar with Jenna Helland's work. I'll have to look into that.

My thoughts exactly.

"Instead of asking why we sleep, it might make sense to ask why we wake. Perchance we live to dream. From that perspective, the sea of troubles we navigate in the workaday world might be the price we pay for admission to another night in the world of dreams."

It seems she wrote a short story in a book called Shadowmoor and did the captions for Magic: The Gathering cards. That's all I was able to find. Alas I haven't read the short story.

Well if she wrote captions for Magic cards, she is a perfect fit for 4th Edition rules, which largely mirror the interrupt, power driven cycle of a Magic the Gathering game.

I can't say anything about her prose, as I haven't read Shadowmoor. I am looking forward to this series, if only because it looks to be very different from what has come before thematically.

Thank Ye Sage!!

After reading her bio all I can say is I hope her book doesn't make her into our "Jenemy"

And seing that she was educated on the Emerald Isle gives me high hope for her prose!!!! Can't wait to discuss it in the book club!

I have to admit, I like the premise of a series called The Wilds.

I love it. I love outdoor/wilderness adventures. Stories by the campfire. Keeping watch. rangers.

Well met

Aye, i'm certainly intrigued with this series, and it will be interesting to see which areas of the Realms are addressed to give a unique and Realms-feel to the tales.

My first vote would be the Neverwinter Woods

Indeed, there are people living on Selune.

Among them... humans, elves, and a significant settlement of Leiran faithful. Actually, they'd likely former faithful now given her 'dead' status. There are other races also. See the Realmspace sourcebook and the details for Selune at the spelljammer.org website.

I'll also note that an illusion crafted by Leira herself once made the moon appear to be a barren rock, hiding the actual landscape. I say "once made" because, with the death of Leira, and from apparent details in the "Countdown to the Realms" articles, we now know the illusion has fallen.

...Which is rather odd, actually. The illusion survived the Time of Troubles and the death of its creator. And we know the Sellplague flowed around areas with intense magic, leaving them mostly untouched (unless it blew them up). So it's not entirely logical that the illusion should suddenly fail.

logic doesn't necessarily have a firm hold on the 4-gotten realms

Specifically, SJR2 Realmspace. I like it as a Spelljammer supplement, but I find most of the Toril-specific info it contains to be questionable...

Ah, but whoever that mystery scribe was, he didn't italicize the title, which could imply that the word "Realmspace" was simply the subject matter, and not necessarily the title. And I provided a link, unlike that other scribe.
