Does anyone know what the Moonblade that belongs to Elaith Craulnoble actually does? I saw it in the book of Faerun but it never told what it does. If anyone could tell me it'd be greatly appreciated :o)

| Honestly, I don't think it has ever been mentioned. I am not sure if even Elaith knows. |
Wow! That has no saving throw written all over it. |

No Elaith knows... I believe there was a short story or such in one of the Realms Anthologies books that he was in the process of trying to get the blade to become non-dormant again for his daughter... to give her a chance so she doesn't get all the blame from his choices in life... If i recall right... he was receiving a bit of help from Arilyn and/or Danilo in raising his daughter to be good (though whether she knows of him or not.. i can't recall)... It's been a while since i read the story... so i might be a bit mistaken.. and now that i checked the last page of the story in Realms of Infamy... it does appear that his daughter doesn't know of him much... if at all... and she was left in the care of Arilyn to be raised to know the history of the sword, it's wielders, magic and all.. since he did a lot to restore it's magic. |

| I don't think that it was a short story. I think that it was the second Arilyn Moonblade book. I only read Realms of Valour, and I don't remember that story being in there. But if it was in any of the anthologies it would be that one. |

No... it was in Realms of Infamy cause i looked through the different realms anthologies right before i finished typing the book... The story was about Elaith... NOT Arilyn... Arilyn was only a minor minor char in the story. It is the second story in Realms of Infamy, entitled "The More Things Change" Starting on page 27... on to 41... and if Mournblade still doesn't believe me I'll copy down the last few paragraphs of the story |

I remember reading that story I just don't remember reading Realms of Infamy. I guess I did read it. I do recall SOME story telling about the power of the moonblade... aoihfioheihtrwiehrfhj!!!!! WAIT HOLD ON!!!
RIGHT!!!
Elves of Evermeet. says they are a +1 to +4 weapon, blade decides whether or not to accept the weilder, And each moonblade gets a new power for every wielder it accepts, determined either on the DMG extraordinary power table or the table on pg 71 of elves of evermeet.
It still gives no indication about Elaith's specific moonblade however.
I DID read that Elaith story but I don't remember reading Realms of INfamy.

Yes according to Elves of Evermeet each Moonblade starts out with ONE ability and then with each owner it gets a new ability. Interesting enough, it says that Evil wielders must save vs. Death or be slain. Even if the save is successful the individual will be unable to handle the blade again. The moonblade refuses to be accepted by a non elf, or an elf that lies, cheats, and is selfish.
I rememebr Elaith as having a moonblade, but did he ever use it? I can't remember. I think he stores it. IS that correct?

That is correct, to an extent. He drew it in Evermeet, but it didn't accept him. However, when there is no heir to that particular applicant, the moonblade doesn't kill him/her upon rejection. Instead, it goes dormant. The only way it comes back to life is if a new heir tries to draw it.
Eliath left the island in shame, and basically decided there was no point in trying to be good anymore. That's why his alignment fell. However, he was lying dying one time, and had an unselfish thought about helping his daughter. I can't remember what it was, but it was strong enough to reawaken the moonblade, which then healed him. (There's one power right there, though I can't remember what he was healed of -- maybe it has a power to cure disease.)
He doesn't use it, and keeps (I guess kept, now) it in trust for his daughter. |

Well... let's see... according to the Realmswatch article on Elaith on Wizards.. (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=fr/fx20010530c) he was poisoned by a blade, and while he lay dying, his thoughts turned to his daughter and was wondering what'd happen to her after his death... and the unselfish turn of thought reawakened the moonblade which healed him. He stores the moonblade until his daughter can claim it. |
