If you are very quiet and you can keep very still you can just make out the sound of dice rolling coming from above. Happy Birthday to the Original Dungeon Master. Your game lives on!

And still missed.
A good time to spend a couple of hours reading a few old Dragon articles and the 1st ed. Dungeon Masters Guide. |

| Agreed, and as a relative new-comer to D&D (since 2004) it feels especially strange. I can only imagine how hard it was for people who've been playing since the beginning to hear the news. |

Now this is juss awsome.
I didn't even know that 2 days ago 7/27/2010, was Gary Gygax's birthday. Yet what I did that day was decide to randomly roll some dice for to create 6 2nd edition ability scores for a character.
The result? 17, 17, 16, 18, 9, and 18!
And let's remember, if you roll and get a 14-15 score in juss 3 catagories, you're considered in the top 10% of any given population! And according to Baldur's Gate rules, I can take away from some of the other scores and put it w/the 9, and thus have all ability scores of at least 14!
So I honoured a great man's bday without even knowing it until now, and undoubtedly had some angel-type spirit touch upon my dice rolls!
Edit: And what a way to celebrate my 100th post on CK, here on a thread about Gary! |

Happy Birthday indeed! We'll always miss you Mr. Gygax, and many of us never had the chance to say how greatly your game affected our lives. I wish I could have told you in person, and could have thanked you for all the wonderful friends it's brought into my life. |

| The man must have worn a Hat of Wisdom a Perhipat of Creation and a Cloak of Awesomness. In addition to his honor i'd throw out a nod and raised mug of fresh, cold ale to all of those (us all included) that have taken the man's ideas, made them our own and given even more back from the simplest of home-spun spells and weapons to house rules that our players love. Keep on creating! |

remember a quote (sorry can't remember who to attribute it to) about Gygax' Obituary stating he was survived by six children...
"Six? I thought he had millions?" |
