I am not sure if there is a large discussion on this or not, but I was pretty upset about the 100 year jump that was done to FR. Is there a discussion on this somewhere or if not what do you guys think about this and are you following it in your campaigns or staying with the old timeline?
What do you of this change overall?

| I would do searches for "4e" and/or "Spellplague" to find some past (or current) discussions. However, emotions have been high in both the anti- and pro-4e Realms camps, so please tread carefully. |

You should find ample opinions here! Some of those discussions dan pretty hot, but I bet from the outsidethey would make good reading! |

Basically, opinions are divided. Some people like the timejump and the Spellplague, and some people do not. Either way, most people have very strong feelings about it, and we've had a lot of discussions about it turn very ugly. |

| So they jump the timeline 100 years ahead, those that refuse to move with it are stuck in a past timeline with no new material being printed for THAT old timeline right? |

That is correct. You either move forward or you start making your own timeline of events.
I'm one of many that would love to see a reset to an earlier timeframe, but I don't think we'll ever see that. |

| That is what I HATE, being forced to go forward with what THEY see is best if I want to get any new material. |

| I never followed the official timeline done since the Grey box in the first place (and information about the timeline before that is easily changed also) and I usually start campaigns in the 1340's or 50's anyway, so the 100 year jump had little effect on me and my game. |

It's always been that way, since the Realms was first published. It's just that now there's a huge timejump involved.
Me, I can deal with the timejump a lot more readily than the Spellplague -- but that doesn't mean I'm happy with it. It's just that I could have taken the timejump, if it was by itself. |

I think the time jump is great. I believe it gives authors the flex and room to create all sorts of history and adventures without being held to higher powers to get their story out. Additionally, it puts the Realms in a very stable era that's not troubled by the Spellplague much (sure, there are some areas that are unstable, but they are clearly defined) or worrying about being transposed with a rock from Returned Abier.
Furthermore, I feel that it gives those who dislike the changes to the Realms room to do whatever they like to "their" Realms. Someone who doesn't feel the new Realms are canon are probably not going to worry about continuity anyways.
The only problem is that many iconic characters we've grown to love (Liriel, Danilo, Arilyn, Mirt, the Knights of Myth Drannor, etc.) probably won't be revisited much and their stories will go untold. Hopefully, WotC will give those authors the rights to explain their outcomes and give us fans the stories we've all wanted to hear. |

Can anyone list links to all the books for FR that have been printed for this new timeline? I want to research it further. To see how it affected other areas. |
