I finally decided to register today. I have been browsing through the forums for almost a week now as a guest. From what I have read (so far) the Realms is still one of the best campaign settings for the game. I can't say much about the game since the last time I played/dm’d was over 15 years ago (2e was still new!). Very happy that I found this site since I was going through some of my old boxes in the garage and found a trapper keeper (some of you old timers like me remember these) with characters that I had played a long time ago. Even found my collector’s edition hard back of Paths of Darkness and read that again for about the 5th time. The products/novels list that is on this site will help me catch up with everything that I missed and am missing from my collection thank you to all who put that together.
One last thing before I go…I was looking for an area in the forums to ask about magical items. I have started to transfer some of my old characters onto newer pieces of paper. On one of the characters it says he has Bracers of dark magic dampering with no stats mentioned (spelling?). I could not find it in the DMG, this site, any FR book that I have, I am missing the first two volumes of the encyclopedia magica set, and Google brings up more results from online games than it does anything else. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated…
Other than that to all who are on this site keep up the good work…I’m still reading.

Welcome to the Keep!

"These things also I have observed: that knowledge of our world is
to be nurtured like a precious flower, for it is the most precious
thing we have. Wherefore guard the word written and heed
words unwritten and set them down ere they fade . . . Learn
then, well, the arts of reading, writing, and listening true, and they
will lead you to the greatest art of all: understanding."

I looked through the index of the Magica books and they don't list a magical item, under bracers, of magical dampening. So, I'm not sure where it's from.

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

The Running the Realms shelf would be the most appropriate area for such queries.

Oh, and welcome to Candlekeep.

Welcome to Candlekeep!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!

As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!
