Hi guys
I've been thinking about modding Medieval 2 Total War to make a campaign set in Faerun, and now I have some time on my hands I reckon I'll make a start on it. I'm not sure exactly what date it'll be yet, I'm just trying to read up on some areas I'm not very familiar with - can anyone point me in the direction of some reliable information on history/culture of some of the more eastern areas, such as Aglarond?
I was also thinking about cutting the map off in the south at the Shining Sea (i.e. Calimshan and places on equivalent latitude would be the southern point of the map), primarily because I know literally nothing about those areas other than Halruaa keeps itself to itself (which doesn't really suit a Total War game...) but also because of the limit on the number of factions.
Any suggestions on the best places for starting my research or anything else would be much appreciated!

As far as I am concerned, I would need to know what Total War means. A program or rule set I do not know.
The idea of saying lands do not exist, "cutting the map off in the south at the Shining Sea ", strikes me as a bad idea if it is to stay a Realms game.
As DM of course you get to decide, travel difficult or virtual impossible only works is your players like the idea. |

| It's a strategy PC game, not a D&D ruleset. It means there would be some variances from D&D rules (obviously magic is the main one) to try and comply with what the game engine can handle |

Just some thoughts:
You might want to try the Tuigan Invasion as a campaign, with the player being Azoun's forces. Seeing as steppe cavalry and horse archers are already units.
You might have to do a little model editing though.
The hardest unit to create would be the magic-users I imagine, because you'd have to animate their spells as well. 3d modeling is no mean feat, in my opinion. |
Redwall. Drizzt. Kentucky. Enough said.
I was weaned on 2E Baldur's Gate. Learned 3.5E, and can't stand 4E WoF. (Though I try not to mess up canon too badly). |

| Hi, please visit twcenter forums, as I am also trying to make a Faerun Total War mod. I want to start it in 1358 DR and go with the Era of Upheaval campaign. I have a working campaign map of the whole pre-spellplague Faerun, stretching from Icewind Dale to Hordelands in the north, and from Chult to Luiren and that eastern desert (east from Mulhorand) to the south. |
