I wonder how it will port the Infinity Engine ... and if it will stick to the classic AD&D 2E ruleset?
To be honest, the quirks of the archaic 1E/2E rules caused endless complaint with critics and reviewers, for every release (and re-release) of every game based on the Infinity Engine. It seems most of these "gamers" just can't/won't comprehend the simple convolutions of Gygax's Armor Classes or a spellcasting system that doesn't involve some kind of replenishing blue mana/energy bar. These are the exact sorts of quirks which establish the "good gold games" play experience for grognards (like myself) ... but the complainers do have great impact on how the games are received by the market, their opinions help determine whether a sequel will ever be developed.
If they rebuild this game under D&D 3E/3.5E or 4E rules then it'll be a similar game. But it just won't be the same game. Hardly worth playing if you've already done the story before, might as well take your chances with an entirely new game.
I'd be interested in seeing if modding platforms like WeiDU and Near Infinity are also eventually ported onto iToys - this would allow almost every existing mod for BG (and other Infinity Engine games) to be installed on the iToy-ported versions. Somehow I feel this sort of opensource collaboration smacks of too much rebellious freedom for Apple to permit, there would likely be licensing controls and jailbreaking galore. |

Well i don't have an Ipad and don't plan to getting one as I am pretty happy with my Samsung galaxy tab. No offence to any Apple acolytes. Hopefully this will show up in the Android market soon. |

| Dave Gross joins as writer for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition. Evidently they will be adding more story elements as well as improving the graphics. |

Weidu is to be ported onto iPad. As for the ruleset - Trent said the AD&D will stay. |

| Again, I heartily approve of the classic 2E-based ruleset, but it will draw a lot of negative criticisim from product reviewers which will adversely affect how well the game is received. I suppose Overhaul Games is gambling that more iPads are owned by grognards than modern gamers, can't please everyone so might as well just focus on maximum revenue potential. |

Guess I'm getting me an I-Pad.
I never played any of the FR-VGs (weird, I know), so I guess I'm getting my second chance.
@Sallus Kai - you have to put "" around the url, like this - {url="randomsite"} - you terminate it the regular way (and use '[' instead of '{', like normal). I'm surprised Sage didn't fix that for you. |

It's not that. It's the fact that changing the ruleset would require getting permissions and whatnot, as Oster mentioned. |

| It is eventually coming out for PC, iPad, and then other Mac formats. It is going to be cleaned up, tuned multiplayer functions, and possibly some new goodies. |
