Indeed.
[SPOILER for Vampire of the Mists]:- From what we know... Jander wanted to die in rays of the sun at the end of Vampire of the Mists. However, the Mists of Ravenloft snatched him away before he could be burned, determined to keep him alive in his tortured existence.
If you're interested in more stories featuring Jander, Red, and if you haven't done so already, I suggest you check out his appearances in the various FR anthologies. Such as:- "One Last Drink" from Realms of Valor, "The Quiet Place" from Realms of Magic, and "Blood Sport" from Realms of Infamy.

Along with Erik's fine suggestions, I'll add the second I, Strahd novel -- "The War Against Azalin" and Spectre of the Black Rose, which is the follow-up to Lowder's Knight of the Black Rose novel.

Death of a Darklord was by Laurell K Hamilton, BTW.
And, to be honest, I really didn't enjoy that one as much as some of the other RAVENLOFT novels. When it was initially released, I was ecstatic over the fact that the novel was set in one of my favourite Domains -- Kartakass -- with one of my favourite Darklords, Harkon Lukas. But after reading it through, I was left disappointed. I'm not entirely sure whether it was because Hamilton really didn't know what setting she was writing for, or because of directives from TSR. But the story itself was bland, and particularly generic. In fact, it didn't really feel like a RAVENLOFT novel at all for the most part. |

Aye. I wouldn't mind hearing what you thought of the various novels as you read them.
I think I posted most of my own reviews for the novels on the "Fraternity of Shadows" website, so if you're interested to read them later, let me know.

And if anyone wants to know how badly behind in FR novels i've fallen due to time, i've just started reading Tantras! |

Yeah, I would like to check them out sometime. Maybe you can send me a link at some point and I will look them over.
P.S. have you read Downshadow yet? Have not seen you in the bookclub and was curious. |

Aye, Wooly has the right of it. I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive. Australia tends to receive FR novels about a week or two after their release in the US. Plus, I've got two other books to finish before I get to Downshadow. So I should start contributing to the Book Club discussions by next month.

Ah! I was wondering how you knew to give a hint to fans of a certain bard in chapter 11? I thought that meant you may have read it. |

pm your address and I will fire you off a copy! (I think I can get it shipped for less that $5 and will be there in under a month) |

I appreciate the offer, Red. Really. But I've got a pre-ordered copy already scheduled for delivery late next week. And Erik's likely to be sending me a signed copy as well, so I'm pretty much set for multiple copies of Downshadow.
That is, unless the Lady K would like to also read it. Maybe she can take up your generous offer. |

Most of my toys, yes. But not my FR novels. As I've said before, the Lady K has a tendency to "dog-ear" pages in books, and that's a big 'No, No' for me.
Ahh, I dislike that as well. Where would be a good spot for me to discuss the RL novels with you?
And on topic...a little at least....Jander's once in a while glimpses of his days on Evermeet make a bit wistful for the "old days" And Jander is very likable, for a vampire....he wants to be good, but knows no ater how hard he tries, it is jsut not quite in him, at least at this point.(this novel must be what 200 plus years before his FR stories?) |

| I finished Elfshadow yesterday and it was excellent. Something about the way Elaine Cunningham writes brings her characters to life so much more than the average fantasy writer. Wonderful stuff. Next on the list is Red Magic. |

I have finally finished 'Obsidian Ridge' - and found it very underwhelming. Compared to Lebow's 'Master of Chains', which I remember as being rich, exciting and well-plotted, this just seemed far too stilted in terms of its prose style and was far too full of moments where the author thought he was being clever with his plot revelations and, I'm sad to say, I just didn't care enough about the characters to be impressed. Disappointing. And it's been quite a while since I've said that about a FR novel.
Looking for better times with 'Stardeep'...
