I am 100% up to date on realms novels now. Finished Pools of Radiance: Ruins of Myth Drannor yesterday. I guess technically i'm not 100% up to date, because I won't be heading to the store till friday to see if the March release novel (Sandstorm) is available. Once it is, and I'm at the store, I'm buying it and reading it. Now I need to work on being 100% up to date on realms gaming products, video games, online wizards stuff, and obsucre stuff. Working on the gaming products first. I have already read all 3.xE things (got them as they came out and read them) and of course the 4E (three items), but I'm doing pretty good on the 2E/1E stuff. A bit over halfway through The Savage Frontier, then I will hit the last box I have to go through (The North), take all my notes as I go (needed for my current campaign), and maybe I'll follow those with the Volo's Guides (which I have flipped through looking for specific information but have yet to read cover to cover). |

| I finished Depths of Madness yesterday and my order from Amazon that included Sandstorm showed up today (great timing), so I have started reading Sandstorm. |

I'm only about 30 pages in but I like what I have read. |

I just finished Sandstorm. I really liked it. I've only read a couple of other books in the general area of Calimport so it was nice to see a lot more of an area that I haven't read much about. Lots of material for a follow up (which I would personally like to see happen). An interesting turn of events regarding a Genasi ability I must've overlooked when I read through the Monster Manual. Also, I was surprised that ability didn't get used the way I thought it was heading. I also liked the numerous planar entities and their intrigues. I think this is the first (FR) book I book I have read with Effiti and Djinni. Some interesting characters (like Corvus, the first Kenku I can recall reading) as well.
Now to keep with the desert theme and read part 4 of the Prism Pentad (now that I finally it and part 5) and maybe part 5 before returning to Realms novels. |

Finished reading "Maiden of Pain".
Apart from the swamp part -which I still do not understand why it was put there- I think it was a pretty reasonable novel and it was about time to get more stuff on Loviatar.
This said, can anyone enlighten me on what the Church of Entropy is? I felt like having ended up in a different shared world setting. No clue what this is about... |

The Karanoks' worship of the sphere as Entropy has never truly been a divine and/or wondrous thing. Their fanaticism based on myths and legends ultimately lined up with Tiamat’s goals and she started granting spells in Entropy’s name early in the 1370's. That's pretty much it. |

Thanks Sage, that's really interesting! Where can I get a good summary of Tiamat's goals in this context? |

greetings, Chris! I, too, have just bought a copy of Sandstorm. It's next on my to-read list after I finish Star of Cursrah by Clayton Emery. quote: Originally posted by Christopher_Rowe

Hope you enjoy it, Vallon. The Emery is one of the books I read in my "read all things Calimshan" phase of research and I liked it--interesting structure. |
My Realms novel, Sandstorm, is now available for ordering. |

I hope you do, BlackAce, and if so I hope you enjoy enough to try out some of the other recent Realms offerings. There's been some good stuff in the last few years, I think. |

| I'm about 2/3rds of the way through The Captive Flame. Absolutely fantastic read. Richard Lee Byers has been knocking them out of the park lately. Easily one of the top FR writers right now. He transitioned characters from a couple past series into this one and bridged the gap between pre and post spellplague FR and made it feel like the FR tyhe whoel way through. |

Tis' true BlackAce. I can recommend the Ed Greenwood presents Waterdeep series as recent goodies, as well as the two first of The Chosen of Nendawen. |

I do like Gromph, but most of his coverage in the series was in the interminable spellbattle, and that just doesn't interest me. I know a lot of people loved that battle, but I'm not one of them.
What I really wanted to see Gromph do didn't happen. I'd say more, but I don't want to spoil anything for the folks that haven't completed the series yet. |

I agree with that. Each and every time Gromph popped up in the books, I was hoping for some expansive coverage. But, really, he was just a supporting character.
He really does deserve a book on his own, however. |
