In FRIA I've noticed that there is a location called "The Abbey of High Song (formerly Tharthyn Villa)" located along the Coast Way about 40 miles northwest of Nashkel. Does anyone have any info on what this is?

See "Prayers From the faithful", p.115. It's a temple to Milil.

Excellent, thanks!

If any more info on it appears anywhere else I'd love to know, thanks again.

What exactly is an "abbey" in FR?

In real life an abbey is a monastery, where monks dedicate themselves to a life of prayer and contemplation. In FR, how is this intended to differ from a temple?

If there are monks in the faith of Milil, for example, I'm assuming that we're not talking about the D&D character class. Candlekeep has monks called the Avowed who claim to be non-denominational (and so then are devoted to the preservation of knowledge itself?), and these seem to be modeled more after the European medieval Catholic monks as opposed to the character class which seems modeled after Asian monks who practice martial arts.

Anyway, is this Abbey of Highsong a monastry where bards who worship Milim maintain a closed community in order to devote themselves entirely to communion with Milil? Is this sort of monaticism considered a a preparatory step toward entering the clergy?

Senior Scribe Lemernis,

They are essentially the same as you know in the real world.

Here is a list:
