I know that most of you will think that I am mad, but I honestly did not enjoy playing the Balders Gate games. Maybe it was because I played Icewind Dale first and preferred the game system, but the world would be a boring place if we were all the same.

I always have been fond of the Baldur's Gate series- more spacifically Shadow of Amn & Throne of Bhaal (I can't play the first one on my computer for some stupid reason that the CD's developed)

Though I've never heard of Pool of Radiance

Good pool Lina.I chose Baldur's Gate,"Shadows of Amn".Though I also like Throne of Bhaal as well.I'm still not finished with the game yet,but I will play it again as different character. To me it's the closest thing to real gaming that I have played.

BG 2: SoA, hands down. It was epic gaming at its best. Those 300 hours spent on all those quests were well-spent.

Most of the game choices were bundled with it's expansion(s), and one was even bundled with it's sequel... yet, why was BG1s expansion not even mentioned, and BG2's expansion listed seperately? ALso, though this is not really important, why was ToEE not listed as well, it seems that it would have filled the list out...

Hmph. I'm the only vote for Pool of Radiance, huh?

And here I thought FR fans respected their historical roots.

Why, you ask? Unless I played on my work computer (which was a no-no unless I was caught up on deadlines), I never had an up-to-date/state-of-the-art computer on which to run them. The BG engine was massive and marvelous and all too much for my behind-the-times PCs.

Loved them and looked at whatever graphics and such I could during continuity checks et al, but never got too far with them due to time pressures and not wanting to be in the office every waking minute.

Thus, my faves will always be the ones I played as a fan before I joined TSR: the SSI gold box games. Yes, they were crude, but for their day, they were great.

Who might be able to run BG1 or 2 on this machine but still doesn't have the time to do so.....but he might make more time if they ever adapt the games for X-Box....

Exactly my problem, Steven I'd love to get stuck into some of the FR computer games, but any time on the computer gets taken up with other tasks. The only time I can ever devote to gaming (and thats only about 2 hours max at any one time, probably only 2 hours a week at that!) is on the XBOX. Therefore, I have to wait for Demon Stone to come out in a month or whatever

I could only list out the "popular and recent" games I knew of Charlie. Sorry anyone if I didn't list out your fav here. But I put my vote towards BG2: SoA as I'm still playing it and loving it.

Well, the Crux of my question centered on why the expansion for BG2 was listed seperately.

Capn Charlie, it's because ToB was the epic expansion to end an epic era. This game was supposed to be the final of the BG series and finally finish off the story.

Well its as DDH said, different storylines. Plus I'll be able to tell you more in detail if and when I finish BG2:SoA and start on BG2:ToB. I'm having too much fun dragging out the gameplay in SoA. I also wanted a little variety for everyone to choose from and with only six slots available it was kinda difficult as some had expansions, some were unknown to me coz I never got a chance to play them, etc.

More than a decade after purchasing the Old Grey Box BGII made me finally want to run a Forgotten Realms campaign. Its a fantastic game.

What kind of reason? I have this thing that if both Baldur`s gate I and SoA are installed on my computer I can`t play the first.

I would chose the Neverwinter Nights game plus expansions. After playing them deeply..., very deeply.... I've got to say that i rather prefer the system of the game (not the argument that I must recognize are very deep, the both of them, but I still recognize that not being for Mephistopheles, Jon Irenicus is the best Nemesis ever seen, Morag and the medusa gal are simply horrible). The features system, the dialogue options, persuade, intimidate, lie... the battle system, seing how the char dodges the attacks, or the incredible uses of the engine of the game (just see Klauth's lair...). The combo of the technical and the system features makes Neverwinter slightly superior to the Baldur's Gate Saga.

Well met

Hmmm, most odd. This completely slipped past me that there are two "Most Liked Game" polls here at Candlekeep. I have therefore decided to lock this one as the other poll has more votes cast (as well as more choicces) and it would certainly be pointless to continue two polls on the same subject.
