What do my fellow scribes think of the possible existance of Ur-Priests (from the BOVD and updated in Complete Divine) in the Realms. How would they work? Technically they still recieve their power from gods, they just receive them underhandedly.
And while we're at it . . . do you think Kir-Lanan would ever take this class, or are they SO against divine power that they wouldn't even use stolen energy . . .

I would say yes they could exist in the realms. They'd have a pretty nasty fate after they died though. As they'd be the False, since they believe in the gods and don't worship one.
As for the Kir-Lanan. I could see it both ways.
1.) They hate it so much they won't any divine energy. 2.) They hate it but enjoy giving a big finger to the gods by stealing the energy and using it as they wish. |

Yeah, I know what you mean, I could go both ways. Thats why I really wanted some other opinions on the matter. I can see them being so against anything divine that they would never use anything even remotely clerical, but wouldn't they love to screw with ambient power that the gods give away to followers.
My main reason for checking the opinions of other scribes on the existance of Ur-Priests is that I really didn't like the "Eldreth Veluuthra worship nature now" in Champions of Ruin enough to brainstorm how they actually got their divine abilities in a manner that didn't contradict Realmslore (i.e. only gods can grant divine powers). I think technically Ur-Priest don't break this becuase they steal ambient power that is granted by the gods. |

I did the exact same thing for the Eldreth Velutthra actually.
I'd say for the crazy god haters. Have some that don't and some that do. You can then have two factions within them. |

Well met!
I would only allow this prestige class for Kir-Lanans. I still cannot understand the idea behind any 'tapping a concept for power'-type clerics/priests. In my opinion it just doesn't work in the Realms. |
