Honourable and learned sages,
your humble student is keen to know when did telkiira first appear in the Realms. I have searched the boards and conducted other such searches but can't find a date for when these devices first appeared.
I thank you in advance for any answers you can provide.

Ken: You from the States? Jimmy: Yeah. But don't hold it against me. Ken: I'll try not to... Just try not to say anything too loud or crass. |

Also, you can find details about the selu'kiira (or high lore gems) in the C:EoE supplement. The associate adventure module Fall of Myth Drannor contains a few more notes on both types of gems as well. Both are freely available for download here:- http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/dnd/downloads
Additionally, you can also find a few tidbits about the elven lore gems when Elminster has a brief encounter with a kiira in the early stages of Elminster in Myth Drannor.
Actually, this might be a good to time ask whether Steven has any "extra" thoughts on the tel'kiira that he might like to share with us... .

Ed created them in EiMD; I merely statted them up and punched up their lore. Don't know what else to tell you here, folks, other than <and the cloak of NDA swoops in low and gathers up Steven...>
Sorry, folks. Can't say much, but I'm willing to answer questions on previously set lore on kiira....

Thank you for referring me to Cormanthyr: Empire of Elves. I have this but obviously over-looked the reference on page 25, which I'll quote here if any others are interested: "Uvaeren's knowledge and lore continued to prove a boon to the Elven Court and the other realms. Elven lorekeepers from this realm were the most cryptic and secretive, and invented hundreds of ways to both record the annals of elvenkind and hide that information from any nonworthy eyes. Many believe that the Uvaeranni enchanters created the first tel'kiira of Faerūn."
So a rough estimate would give a date of the tel'kiira's first appearance of being somewhere after -8,200 DR (the Founding of Uvaeren) and before -5,000 DR (the destruction of Uvaeren).
Thanks for your answers. |
