I'm looking on some info about this temple in Waterdeep (DW). Nohting about it (except name) in the new CoS.

Thanks.

It's not a temple, it's a Dock Ward tavern. Much of the action in the old Advanced Dungeons and Dragons comic was in or started at this tavern.

It was originally run by an avatar of Selūne called Luna. After the ToT, she returned to the heavens and left the tavern to Kyriani.

As for the House of the Moon, the Waterdhavian temple to Selūne, it's detailed in Powers & Pantheons.

Wooly, it looks like you got all tangled up with the temple and tavern references. As you should know, the House of the Moon is actually a TEMPLE, not a TAVERN.

You made me laugh though. I can't really imagine what a Selūnite tavern would be like.

Oops. I was half-asleep when I did that.

Wonder if we could ever convince Jeff Grubb to return and tell us more about such marvelous artifacts...like the Moonpenguin of Boof, which (so far as I know) still rests on the back shelf behind the bar at Selune's Smile....

This is all detailed in LEoF, btw.

The artifact behind the bar is the Eye of Selune. If activated through the right ritual, it opens a gate that will draw an ancient Netherese city, Selunarra, from Selune's domain to war with the City of Shade.

The Moonpenguin of Boof is something different.

And with a name like that, I've long suspected it's some kind of in-joke.

I should love to see Jeff Grubb return to the Realms! He did some good stuff. And the fiction he and Kate Novak wrote was among the best!

Well met

Indeed. I also echo Wooly Rupert's thoughts

I have attempted to contact Jeff to invite him within the halls of Candlekeeep, but alas, to no avail. Steven, if thou art in touch with Jeff, mayhaps ye could work thy magic ::passes Steven Rod of Enticement::

Yeah, and I think it might've started with a typo that became a great running joke.

And DDH is right as well. The Eye of Selune is in there too....but you forget that Kyriani likes little trinkets and keepsakes from her lovers, so those artifacts are hidden among hundreds of small curios and some other items of power....like the Bells of K'sahr Than, Senamreth's Goblet, and never forget about the much-fabled Emerald Ermine!
