I'm currently planning a game set during the Wailing Death of the Neverwinter Nights PC game. Neverwinter Nights never seemed to have that Realmsian feel for me, and I've decided to correct this by setting a game there (and indeed, I'm aware it's not canon).
Well, I've a halfling rogue, a dwarven fighter, and perhaps a bard. They're going to be mercenaries, similer to the ones outside of the main Keep, in the game. My main starting adventure will have them attempt to help a rich noble family slip over the walls, breaking the quarenteen for gold, before being betrayed and seen by the guards.
Other than those feeble tads of information, I've not come up with much more. Does anyone have any ideas for further adventures? An entire city closed off due to a mysterious disease must have hundreds of possibilities.
Also, does anyone know where I can find more information on the city of Neverwinter?

Excellent. I've both supplements, but thought there would be a little more, with it on the Northern Sword Coast.
Well, does anyone have any ideas for possible adventures, or words of advice/tips? |

The 1e and 2e campaign box sets also has some info, but not much. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

And what about Neverwinter Woods? Is there any more information on them, and near by areas?
I've a few thoughts about the PC's adventures, but I don't want to restrain my games with direct plots. On the other hand, I can't really come up with a horde of adventures in Neverwinter Woods, only to have them not travel there. I want my Realms game to be character driven. Would the best method be to simply write the adventures each week, after we have played?
Any advice about the game, the area, or methods of GMing would be vastly appreciated. |

I always have a general idea of what I see the campaign outcome to be, add lots of loose adventure hooks, a Few hard line-can't miss type items, Then let the characters decide what they want. I think it is better to have several ideas ready to go, rather than this is the direction you must travel or our game session is not going to happen the way I want it to. Choose 2 senarios for each pole N,S,E,W that way regardless of which direction the party travels, you have at least some idea of what will happen, then add and act accordingly. this prcess has always seemed to work for me and I did not have to worry overmuch that my band of characters would go in another direction than what I was intending. My best advise would be to start out small then react to what the characters do |

The tomes mentioned previously in this scroll have what little detail there is on the actual Neverwinter Woods... as does Savage Frontier.
There's also a good paragraph about the Woods in Steven's City of Splendors boxed set.

I'd never noticed The North boxed set there. I've just downloaded all 10 parts, and I must say, I am extremely impressed. These downloads are realy going to help. Thank you very much for directing me there.
Still trying to come up with some ideas for Neverwinter, but these documents are going to be a huge influence.
Again, thank you, Sage. |
