I've found that Icewind Dale is almost treated like its own campaign setting Like the Horde or Maztica or Kara-Tur, etc.

There are no maps that detail both the Spine of the World and Icewind Dale in sufficient detail for my current interests. Either Icewind Dale is completely featureless (FRCS), not drawn at all or it is very crudely drawn.

A game I'm involved with centers around the Frozenfar and is being run by a vaguely new DM. I'm looking for a map that goes as far north as possible, south to about Luskan and east to about the Mines of Mirabar with as much detail as possible. The best one I've seen so far was in Savage Frontier but that still wasn't detailed enough for my purposes. If I had any artistic skill I'd draw one myself but instead I'm asking you guys for any help you might proffer.

Thanks

The maps in Karen Wynn Fonstad's Forgotten Realms Atlas may be what you're looking for.

The Forgotten Realms Atlus, not the interactive one, but that one could work to, has some pretty good maps for the whole world and the northern parts of the world.

Edit: Far said the same thing I did at the same time. :)

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

The paper atlas has a rough depiction of the northern icecap

the new "sage's" global map in the Forgotten Realms Campaign 3.0 core book shows that there is a subarctic sub-continent just west of the continent Maztica is in...it would be a good place for a Frozenfar campaign with no canon around it...

they have been hinting for years about the North Pole...frost giant empires, snow elves, the new "Evermeet" that is hiding the elven Tree of Souls

there (in my knowledge) has never been a map even hining what the south pole is like...I imagine it is a floating ice cap (like are arctic)

Indeed. Now it's just a matter of obtaining a copy without a credit card and when I'm just about to go flat broke with college fees. Yay!

The various maps RAS has included in his early Drizzt books detail *some* features of the region as well.
