Do any books state the price of a dragon egg?

I was looking at the dragon Familiar feet.

I'd rule that you just can't buy a dragon egg.... It'd probably require some massive questing and trading of powerful magic.. And it would be specific to the potential 'seller'..

Well, the only place in the realms that sells dragon eggs that I know of is the dwarven community of Glen in Mistledale. This is detailed in Volos Guide to the Dalelands, which you can download for free from Wizards page. It says that the eggs go for a minimum of 17 000 gp and there are a few bits more about dragon eggs in the book.

And there's your 'ballpark estimate' (though it's 'usually much more' than 17,000 gp). While there are dealers in dragon eggs -- Elhazir of Arabel is another -- they're too rare for there to be standardized prices, and as with magic items, each purchase is best roleplayed as a unique event, price varying according to the type and provenance of the egg, and the circumstances and bargaining of the buyer and seller.

And the free downloads are located on the Wizards downloads page.

a dragon egg would also need some care wouldn't it? not like you can rush into battle with it in your backpack, it could break. And wouldn't a charachter be awfully powerfull having a dragon to it's disposal?

The conditions to keep the eggs are in the draconimicon and the rules of the dragon familure feat will not work after the giant is past the wormling stage so it shouldnt be all that overpowering for a 15th level archmage who has waited for the right familure I hope.

Thanks for the info I think I would go with a big quest to maybe rescue a Brass dragon egg from a Blue dragon raiding the layer maybe.

I still need to think about it but thanks for all the help. I could of swarn I seen prices somewhere but could not remember where.

Indeed.

FRA notes that Elhazir "quietly" sells dragon eggs to discerning buyers, which hints at the rare and highly expensive nature of the dragon eggs themselves.

A question would be that would wyrms of the same race as the egg, be able to detect or at least in a way sense the egg presence? Would wyrms of other races sense the egg as well?

Besides, does the dealers deal in exotic and planar varieties of dragon eggs?
