Hello, sorry to bother the sages of candlekeep, but there is a slight contradiction i wish to resolve. Kaanyr Vhok is listed as a fighter 16/sorceror 6 in Power of Faerun but in the other sourcebooks, the only one which i can remember of the top of my head being the Underdark, he's listed as a fighter 7/rogue 2/wizard 6. Which is the correct or more up to date version?

retcon sorry? And its kinda weird cos his wizard lvls are now sorceror. . . and he's totally lost his rogue lvls. Hmm but yeah since its a newer book, i'll have to deal with that. Darn my DM was gonna pit us against the Scourged Legion, well looks like we can forget about that. . . lvl 15 is kinda far from lvl 22. Stupid War of The Spider Queen. . . |

Retcon = retroactive continuity - a correction that says "this is how it is and how it always was - there was never a different version out there. I don't care if you're staring right at the entry in the old sourcebook that gives those stats: they never existed - these new ones are the ones you use, dammit!"
And personally, I think sorcerer levels are a little more fitting for a tiefling like Vhok, but YMMV. [shrug] |
D&D collection: Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, Monster Manual I, Complete Arcane, Arms & Equipment Guide.
FR sourcebook collection: Dragons of Faerūn, Faiths & Pantheons, FRCS, Lords of Darkness, Monsters of Faerūn, Player's Guide to Faerūn, Power of Faerūn, Races of Faerūn, Silver Marches.
I just got back into this, okay? Give me time (or better yet money) - I'll catch up soon enough. |

Haha, yep guess thats that. I'll remember to put it to my DM in a euphemistic fashion and then we can go onto Sarya. . . oops i almost forgot she was conveniently destroyed too. Hmm but i thought those rogue lvls did fit him and his role as a devious, scheming half-fiend and it gave him some pretty nifty tricks too, evasion and what not. ah well its the NEW STATS DAMMIT( slaps himself to remember) and many thanks, i dont really have the hang of the jargon yet |

Plus,
there was no sorcerer core class in 2e, so they had to use wizard for his arcane magic levels. Before someone comments, yes I know there was a sorcerer kit in Zakhara material but that's not the same as a core base class. :) |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Haha, I wonder if anyone else would have actually commented on that, Kuje. ;) Well, Old Sage, maybe... |

Kuje, I think he refers to the 3e Underdark |

You're right. Sigh. I really need to stop replying when I'm half awake. :) I do this all the time, when that's the case. |

I'm pretty sure some, but not all, of the stattings as sorcerer were done arbitrarily to bolster the presence of the new class in the Realms, so I don't trust the designation. |

Yeah, from what I've seen, I agree with that. I personally love the class, but I think they slapped it on certain characters to simply ground it in the Realms more. |

Agreed. The Wizards in FR always seem more like a hybrid of the Sorcerer and Wizard classes in 3E anyway, half the time. |

Which is why I allow casting on the fly for almost any caster class. Sorcerer's just have unlimited casting since what they have listed is what they have total. Wizards and Clerics and other prepared casters, are subject to my arbitrary wimps, unless said spell was actually prepared. Plus Wizards need to have their spellbook out to cast on the fly, thus risking it being damaged/destroyed, and cannot use Metamagic. |
