This was an enjoyable story, but I'd put it behind most of the other stories in the book, except for Tamlin's and maybe even with Thomalon's as far as the whole anthology goes.
Its not likely the fault of Lisa (she's a great author, and I've enjoyed her Realms work quite a bit), but by the time this story rolled around, I felt like the big reaveal was telegraphed right from the start in Thomalon's story, and even in Tazi's, and even a bit in Talbot's.
That having been said, I liked seeing a dwarf that was definately not your standard dwarven character in Kremlar. I did feel that the relationship between Sune and Hanali was described a bit more antagonisticly (sp?) than I would have pictured it, but it was interesting seeing Cale as the "boogey man" from Larajin's perspective.
Perhaps moreso than any other story though, this one really did feel like the prologue to Larajin's own book. Not a bad thing, but it felt less like a story in its own rite because of this. Still a fun read though. |
