Hey Brian, thanks for what has been being released so far .
Now if only a monthly Backdrop Series on the Wards of Waterdeep would come out. You know one a month, followed by a monthly series on the Dales, one each month. |
"These things also I have observed: that knowledge of our world is to be nurtured like a precious flower, for it is the most precious thing we have. Wherefore guard the word written and heed words unwritten and set them down ere they fade . . . Learn then, well, the arts of reading, writing, and listening true, and they will lead you to the greatest art of all: understanding." Alaundo of Candlekeep |

They should let me be in charge of the Realmslore DDI articles. |

You or me or Ashe, Brimmy... Honestly, if I had total control over what went into DDI, I'd probably subscribe... |
Playing in the Realms since the Old Grey Box (1987)... and *still* having fun with material published before 2008, despite the NDA'd lore.
If it's comparable in power with non-magical abilities, it's not magic. |

| I wonder how hard would it be for WOTC to ask the fans to detail those areas of the realms that the company won't cover......????? |

I read the WotC content pages this morning. I thought it was some typo. Is it Friday yet? |
I hope Candlekeep continues to be the friendly forum of fellow Realms-lovers that it has always been, as we all go through this together. If you don’t want to move to the “new” Realms, that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with either you or the “old” Realms. Goodness knows Candlekeep, and the hearts of its scribes, are both big enough to accommodate both. If we want them to be. (Strikes dramatic pose, raises sword to gleam in the sunset, and hopes breeches won’t fall down.) Enough for now. The Realms lives! I have spoken! Ale and light wines half price, served by a smiling Storm Silverhand fetchingly clad in thigh-high boots and naught else! Ahem . . So saith Ed. <snip> love to all, THO

Personally I would love to know the fate of Elaith Craulnober.
Is he still around in Waterdeep and if so what is he up to? Did he ever turn from his evil ways and adopt a Neutral (or Unaligned or whatever the kids are calling it these days) alignment? Did his daughter attempt to weild the family Moonblade when she came of age, and if so did it accept her as the heir or deny her like it did her fahter? |

May be a few tidbits in the upcoming book about his daughter, The Serpent's Daughter by Elaine Cunningham.
And there is scroll for it in the novels section . |

Besides where it says free realms lore under each Friday starting on the ninth?
I'm guessing nothing else until then |

Well to be fair we've had (or not had if you're not a subscriber)– 9 Eye on the Realms articles (all DDI), 2 Backdrop articles (all DDI), and 4 Realmslore articles (2 DDI, 2 free) since this open call was posted. That's 15 'Realms articles' over 21 months. While they may not have been able to publish "one a month," that also means they mightn't have gotten a chance to publish what we've asked them to. On the other hand, if you're a cynic... ONLY 15 REALMS ARTICLES?!?
Does that mean I can subscribe for one month, get all 15 and be 'up to date'? |

| As much as I *love* teasers for Ed's novels, I have to say this is a bit of a disappointment if they are going to simply do this for the four weeks before the novel's released -- and there's no mention of the free Realmslore continuing after GenCon. |
I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

Im not a subscriber, and I got it. Just clicked on the free realmslore link for the 9th. |

There is nothing there but a few excerpts from Elmisnter Must Die. And when I went into the Realmslore Archive, none of it is downloadable except the suscriber-only content. I looked all over the Realmslore pages, and found no "free" content to download. What a load of crap. And they wonder why more people don't subscribe...
I think the excerpts are all "the free stuff" |

All but the two for subscribers only are accessable on the page : http://www.wizards.com/DnD/Archive.aspx?category=all&subcategory=realmslore
They are either downloadable pdf's or open to the lore itself.
But I will agree that I expected more than the Excerpts, when I read "free realmslore", and while pleased to read it, it was little more than an Ad for a book I have already pre-ordered. |

Exactly!
It's as if George Lucas had come out and said "Check this show for some new stories set during the Clone Wars" and you got there and it was a bunch of computer-generated half-hour commercials for new action figures.

First, this topic should have gotten its own thread. Then again, it would probably just get locked....
When I first read this I thought, "Finally! A light at the end of the tunnel!". I truly believed someone with some smarts finally took charge and decided to steer things back onto a track we fans would like to see - not a 'crack', its just that anyone who likes The Realms, from ANY EDITION, should want to see more of them, Hmmm?
And then what we get is cleverly(?) disguised advertisement for another product - a novel I'm sure nearly all of us were going to buy anyway.
{sigh}
Its just sad - the guys in-charge decided to nuke most of Ed's toys and keep him in his own corner, and now find they need him to lure the fans back to a setting that is gasping it's last (financial) breath. They're fishing, and Ed's the worm.
I'll leave again now - it seems every time I come here I just get annoyed now. |

Don't leave Markus! Eventually everything comes back around to what the fans want (Classic BattleTech, Batman Begins/Dark Knight, Star Trek 2009). |
