"Leaving" as in 'lurking' - when I post it seems to cause conflict a lot, which is exactly what I don't want.
Every time I try to build a bridge, I find it gets blown-up.
I'm not claiming any innocence in the matter - being from NY, I have some trouble keeping my yap shut when something irritates me. Some people call it 'abrasive' - I like to think of it as plan ol' Brooklyn, in-your-face, honesty.
(Although I never lived in Brooklyn - I was actually born in Queens, but that just doesn't have the same reputation, for whatever reason).
Now I'm off like a prom dress. |

Completely off-topic, sort-of....
Every time I see the title of this thread, I keep imagining a monster called a 'Feedback'.
NO! Seriously!
I picture it looking very creepy, something like THIS, but with either a trunk-like appendage or maybe some Illithid-like tantacles, and a great, big Maw in its back (it uses the appendages to place food in its mouth, much like an elephant). I also imagine the place where a mouth would normally be on it's face wouldn't be there - either sewn-up if it were some sort of undead, or plain flesh if it were some type of aberration.
Despite my vocal dislike for aberrations, I have used them on rare occasions (usually I run a 'Halloween scenario' a'la Ravenloft), and if I could get a good artist to draw something akin to this I think it would be scarey as hell. Not sure if it would work better as some sort of twisted undead though...
Maybe both? Created by a necromancer who dabbled in the Far Realms? That is so frightening and weird... then again, maybe it would just be stupid-looking.
I'm still trying to work-out in my mind weather I want 'corruption' linked to 'Chaos' (Far Realms), or 'Evil' (Shadow) in my world. I love the idea that Mages get corrupted by casting 'forbidden' magics, and I am trying to marry the two together somehow, but it feels forced. We have official lore (core and FR) that it occurs with both, depending on what rules - and edition - you are going with. I think I need to tinker with my cosmology more....
We now bring you back to our regularly scheduled thread... Please stand By |

I just realised! The title of last Friday's free 'Realmslore' was: "Elminster Must Die! #1-7" I'm looking forward to the next free "Elminster Must Die! #8-14," "Elminster Must Die! #15-21" and "Elminster Must Die! #22-Epilogue" where we'll once again be lucky if we see more than two words of 'Realmslore' due to what is actually being presented. |

Brim, I love Ed and everything he writes, and I would have read that regardless...
But the DDi is supposed to be a vehicle for giving monthly Realmslore for use in your game, not an on-going advertisement for future products Hasbro wants to sell me.
I had more here, but I'm getting tired of sounding like a broken record. There was a time when this industry was run by gamers, for gamers.

No.
The fact is, with every other product they've released in the last, I don't know how many, years an excerpt was clearly marked as "Excerpt: Something of Other" and I quote from the July Calendar:quote: 28/6 - Free:Excerpt: Demonomicon 29/6 - Free:Excerpt: Tomb of Horrors 2/7 - Free:Excerpt: Demonomicon 5/7 - Free:Excerpt: Demonomicon 7/7 - Free:Excerpt: Tomb of Horrors etc.
This free 'Realmslore' should have been called what it really is: "Free:Excerpt: Elminster Must Die!" as that is all it is. Yes, there is some Realmslore to be gleaned from it, but it's advertisement first and foremost, not some Realmslore article. |

Actually, it's more because if we gripe at ENWorld or the WotC forums, more than likely we'll get flamed by posters there and be asked to leave since we don't "belong" among the fans there. |

Because it's cool to bash WotC here. I see it everyday here.
Give it 5 years, and WotC will be producing reams and reams of Realmslore and people will still be griping about something.
I don't really care what WotC does or doesn't do with the Realms or D&D for what it's worth anymore.
So lets just agree to disagree and get this scroll back on topic, ok... |

I'm not sure how you come to that conclusion. I can't speak for EnWorld (of late, haven't been on their forums) but WotC is fine and dandy.
Fans on the WotC forums gripe too. The more extreme rants don't happen there like they still do here sometimes. |

Enworld, perhaps - I think those guys sleep with their D&D books.
I just take mine out to dinner, and a movie once-in-awhile.
As for the WotC FR boards, you won't get any flak over there... unless its from your own echo.
You should stop by - I managed to pick up a couple of new ones for my tumbleweed collection. |

You may see it, but I strive to ensure that it doesn't become a "cool" trend here. And it will never be "cool" to bash Wizards or any publisher while I remain a Moderator here at Candlekeep. I won't stand for it. |

So what? A daily bashing of Candlekeep and generalizing of posters as some people see fit, is just as common by now. And yes its just a couple of posters, just as the critique of WotC is minor. I am starting to think people are looking fro a reason to start fights.
And as this derails the topic I am quite happy to continue this by PM if you want |

You know, on the topic of feedback for the designers, I am going to be thinking about DDI articles to send in after I get done with a certain large freelancer project (mid August, for better or worse!). I'm wondering what folks would like to see . . .
Note that I can't promise I'll roll with the things suggested, but you guys say you want more Realmslore, well, this is me asking you to be specific. (Nor does it have to be me--I know the James Brothers cruise these sorts of suggestion lists as well.)
FR Channel Divinities that need to be written?
Explore City XXX articles you'd like?
Class/feat paths that are Realms specific?
Eh?

How about an article(s) on:
Channel Divinities-- The Red Knight or Waukeen
Explore: Neverwinter, Hap, or Elventree.
Or an article detailing the cities on Selune.

I hope Candlekeep continues to be the friendly forum of fellow Realms-lovers that it has always been, as we all go through this together. If you don’t want to move to the “new” Realms, that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with either you or the “old” Realms. Goodness knows Candlekeep, and the hearts of its scribes, are both big enough to accommodate both. If we want them to be. (Strikes dramatic pose, raises sword to gleam in the sunset, and hopes breeches won’t fall down.) Enough for now. The Realms lives! I have spoken! Ale and light wines half price, served by a smiling Storm Silverhand fetchingly clad in thigh-high boots and naught else! Ahem . . So saith Ed. <snip> love to all, THO

I don't subscribe to the DDi, but if I did, the kinds of articles I would like to see are ones detailing parts of the setting, not the rules.
We have enough rules (In EVERY editon), but the 4e setting is in dire need of a little bit of fleshing-out.
The new 'acquisitions' of Cormyr would be a cool article - I was disappointed that they weren't even mentioned in the Cormyr article. Then again, perhaps that should be left for 'The Brothers James'.
Another area I would love to see more on is that region now controlled by the Wild Elves - there was already a rather short, undetailed article on the place when the DDi was still free, and it piqued my interest.
On the other hand, you probably wouldn't be able to cover an area that has already seen coverage.
I would ask about the region where Mulhorand and Unther used to be, but you probably won't be able to provide any details there, either (I'm guessing that's become someone's 'novel playground').
An article on 'Netherease areas of interest' would be great, but that probably falls under the same heading as the region above.
Hmmmmm... maybe you can give us a few examples of regions you would be allowed to explore? I understand quite a bit was 'left blank' for specific reasons (Evermeet, Nimbral, etc), so it would probably be easier for you to give us a short list of what you can do, or would like to do.

Oh! You just reminded me!
I never finished placing all the locales on my latest iteration of the Erlkazar map (no locales have been really placed on that one yet). I should finish that, maybe it will inspire him.
