Greetings fellow scribes and pages!

Homebrew Alert!!!
Remember you have been warned...!

In our last session i introduced the a new campaign arc, based on the mythos of the 12 swords of power

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_Swords_of_Power

I havent red the books (a good thing - i will not feel bad as i am canibalizing any lore in order to fit them in my campaign)

I have replaced the Baneblades of Demron with those swords (and kept the name Baneblades), and scattered them across the Realms.

My homebrew lore (so far), is that there was a legendary elven adventurer / warrior (I am using Flar Starbrow), he and his party of Bold adventurers faced Gargauth the hidden Evil, and his minions time and time again.
In the last epic battle Flar used an legendary arifact blade (i havent decided yet, about the name or how he got his elven hands on it) he mortally wounded Gargauth and forced him flee in exile. The blade was shattered from the blow, and 12 pieces were collected after the battle. From those the great artists and master forgers of those times created the 12 baneblades and each was given to a trusted friend and companion of Flar's Party (havent decided name for party, for now i call them "The Sentinels" may change later)

Elven Legends speak of a dark time when Gargauth returns to Faerun, great heroes will arise to unite the baneblades and craft Flar's sword to slay the Hidden Lord, once and for all.

The character level is extreme high (24-25) by the end of this adventure arc they may reach 28-30, considering the possesion of powerfull artifacts like those blades this will be...EPIC and i want it to be so. Perhaps it will be the last tale of characters they played for 4-5 years, perhaps not.

Characters and motivation:

Gargauth is shadowing the players action for some time now, and both players and PCs are really motivated to take him down.

The Dwarven defender / Cleric to Morandin:
We had a lot of adventures while this guy searched for Amarindar the adamantine kingdom, when he discovered it (he also broke some magical seals) to his demise he found out that a whole kingdom of evil dwarves (used Chaos Dwarves from warhammer) existed in exile in the proud diamond halls. Those black dwarves are serving Gargauth
(He called me OOC "A bastard DM" when he found out :-D )

Elven Ranger:
He is the owner of the Baneblade called Dragonslicer (the sword of heroes) he is living in the reclaimed Myth Drannor. As a wielder of one of those swords he has seen their power and is conserned what if one of those blades falls in wrong hands.

Elven Cleric (of Correlon)
He is the only skeptical about the quest, he fears this is unwise, perhaps about the power they will have once they gather the blades. Also he is aware that a honorable elven NPC he knows carries one of those, and he dont want get in confict with him (Some good people having a couple of swords who are we to take them away - kind of attidute). On the other hand he was raised with the Tales of Flar and the (Sentinels?) back when he was a tiny tree hugger on Evermeet, also he is loving all things elven like legens, songs , dance , history and guess what? SWORDS :-D

Human knight
A ex-Inquisitor of Lathander, he has fallen from grace during the Lathander - Aumanator wars of fath (yep happened in my realms - still rages on at some places). He was hunting deamons and followers of Gargauth by the time he was a squire, they were the mortal enemies of his master, in addition he has some scores to settle about the killings of old friends and family.

The Shieldbreaker (The sword of Force)

From the first look this longsword look Dwarven made, yet there are some elven details to a carefull observer. The hilt is shapped like a Hammer from the brightest truesilver, The dwarven rune of friendship can be seen from the point where the blade connects with the hilt.
The Blade itself is of Adamantium and on bright sunlight it reflects the rays of the sun (like a prysm) giving the blade a sparkling effect
This blade was also called the "The Widowmaker" when held by the chieftain the Vanfiir tribe of raiders the fearsome Gundul "Steelhands"

Some additional info:
It is rumoured that Shieldbreaker cannot be seathed, yet the wielder can carry the sword on his back
Also while the sword shatters mundane weapons and threatens magical ones, it leaves the user defenceless to unarmed opponents
Another trait, is that wielder cannot speak or understand the language of Orcs and Giants, for Alric the Great Runesmith believed that they are beasts and should be killed on sight by any good Dwarf

This legendary baneblade whas given to the Dwarflord Runesmith Arlic Ranulfson (borrowed the name from WH) he was a close friend to Flar and one of the founding members of the Sentinels. He had a workshop (stronghold) in the mountain area that today we call "The Ride". Many times Shieldbreaker had drawn the blood of human raiders and the blade was renown. The are Dwarven songs of how Alric slew the giant - Runesmith Handlmort "The Dwarfeater" inside his own forge.
Alric found death in the hands of the Orc Hunter (assasin?) known as Durfang "The night hunter" and if the legends are true Durfang killed the Dwarf with his bare hands.
The son of Alric, Altrabond cursed the blade because it was bested by an unarmed orc, and he thrown it from a chasm, it was later found by the young mercenary Zilbert Greenpenny.

With the power of Shieldbreaker Zilbert rose to a warlord, and he later founded the kingdom of Raun (consider it some forgotten ruins in the Ride region now), he was killed by one of his mistresses, and his 12 sons went into civil war. An opportunist raid-leader called Gundul of the Vanfiir found the sword in a ransached treasury, he was amazed by the blade, and seized it using the power of his position.

Gundul "Steelhands" became the chieftain of the Vanfiir, after some years. The Barbarians had simple rules: The strongest leads, and Gundul was undefeated in any single duel, and his sword carried the name of "Widowmaker" a well-earned title. Gundul united the tribes for a grand goal, a glorious raid to the heart of Cormanthor: The elven court. He had dreams of treasures, magic and elven women. Gundul was murdered before the raid occured, his neck was snaped while he slept.

The son of Gundul, the handsome and brave Gandular took the sword and the command of the tribes, their attack was successful, elven blood was spilled and the looting was plenty. At that point the invasion stopped - Gandular will of war has dissapeared - for love have truck the young chieftain. Legends says that it was a dryad or a noble she elf, but the results was the same. Gandular orderer his raiders to stop, many tried to kill him, but in the end of the day he was bathed in their blood. The next tenday he married his love and departed together in self-exile and lived happily, but before that he gave his trusted sword, "the Widowmaker" to the elves in hope of forgivenes. The elves realized that the sword was the Legendary Shieldbreaker at once, for that, they have approved of the union and even held a small ceremony by the Standing Stone.

Later Shieldbreaker was given to the Cormyrean warrior King Galaghard III , by the elves, to battle the Witchlords, and he had honored the blade for he was a true warrior. From that time the blade makes some appereances in Cormyrean hostory, most of the times under other names, now it lies half-forgotten in Suzail in a grand collection of blades who served Great (or not) Cormyrean kings of the past

It seems like you have a solid campaign growing here, which is a great idea -also, thinking of imposing it to my PCs too.
what exactly do you need suggestions on? have you only played these 2 blades?

P.S. I like the idea of reclaimed Myth Drannor as well, I intend to speed up my campaign.
