Heh. I just recently re-read the "Twilight Giants" trilogy. Strangely, I actually enjoyed it this time around. I didn't find it all that interesting/entertaining when I'd first read it after it's initial release. I'm always a little weary with Denning-based fiction.

But, for some reason, this time was different. Maybe it's because I'm working on some giant-based lore for my Realms? I don't know.

I've really got to get to reading these books. I've never actually read any scribes saying anything negative about them. So I think it's near time that I experienced them for myself.

I thought they were some of the most enjoyable Realms novels we've had in several years. I liked them considerably more than some of the recent, more popular novels and series we've been getting.

I think I enjoyed the Scions of Arrabar trilogy so much because it's more about political intrigue than fight scenes.

"Instead of asking why we sleep, it might make sense to ask why we wake. Perchance we live to dream. From that perspective, the sea of troubles we navigate in the workaday world might be the price we pay for admission to another night in the world of dreams."

I actually find it hard sometimes to follow a fight scene in a novel whereas all the political mumbo jumbo has got my full attention.

On a side note, I purchased UNHOLY yesterday on my way home from work...so that will be what I read once I'm done the Scions of Arrabar (since I already read Undead and Unclean)

Yeah I am really enjoy Titan of Twilight and the whole trilogy in fact. I really like reading about Verbeegs whom are not being butchered by a certain drow and barbarian

And my BN finally got Unholy , so it is next!

I'll admit that the character of Basil was always one I found interesting -- both times I read the trilogy. In fact, I think I even included him as an NPC post-Titan of Twilight when the characters in my campaign briefly visited Hartsvale.

Got through Dragonwall last night and have mixed feelings. I found the political intrigue and espionage aspects of the book far more interesting than the action and battles. I wasn't really into the epilogue but the rest of the book was ok. The biggest problem I had with the book was that there were only two chapter breaks. Chapter breaks make me feel like I'm getting somewhere. Continuously reading segments of 17 to 20 pages without any breaks just makes me feel like things are moving too slow.

Finished City of Ravens, halfway through Frostfel at the moment. Also still making my way bit by bit through Grand History of the Realms. City of Ravens was reasonably enjoyable, but I liked the Last Mythal characters more.

Finished The Titan of Twilight. Really enjoyed the whole series. Basil ended up mu favorite character from the trilogy. I mean how cool is a Verbeeg Runecaster, who you can see through to his skelton who also thanks to Sky Cleaver, knows the answers to "everything".

Starting Unholy, so I can close out that trilogy and try out Ed's Dark Lord.

Indeed. It got kinda difficult trying to stat Basil in 2e rules though... especially post-Sky Cleaver experience. And the fact that I'm really no good with stats and rules didn't make that attempt any easier.

Finished Mistshore. Not my favorite. I was expecting more from this I guess after reading the Blackstaff right before. Additionally, during the last Chapter, The watch Warden's buddy wizardess mentally communicated to "the Blackstaff" and refered numerous times to him and he. Mistshore came out after the Blackstaff, but Mistshore occurs one month prior to the story in the Blackstaff. Kinda threw me off for a bit.

Ruen was a cool character. I dig the rogue/monk combo.

Love it, be sure to check out the book club scrolls for Ghostwalker, as we had some very interesting discussions with Erik about it.

Finished Faces of Deception, really enjoyed it until the end. It was rushed, characters acting out of character and to much unresolved for a stand alone novel.

Think I will grab Ed's Dark Warrior Rising and give it a go.

Unholy is pretty good so far...I'm halfway through chapter 3 so I can't take part of the book club yet, lest I get spoiled on something. On a side note, I had the book upside down and panicked thinking I put it on some chocolate or something and it got smeared...turns out its only Szass Tam's cloak

Finished Crusade today. It took me longer to get through this book than any Realms book I've ever read. It's not that the writing or storyline were bad. I just found myself being so sick of the Tuigan that I didn't really care what happened. Anyone else feel like that when they read this trilogy?

Starting The Parched Sea later today.
