Aye.
Raistlin defeated Fistandantilus and absorbed all of his knowledge. It was questionable who was doing what but, the authors have since clarified it was all Raistlin in the end. |

I love how thsi series either gets a rave review or a blah...not much in between!
I've noted the same thing with Troy Denning. Some folks love his novels, some folks despise them, and there just doesn't seem to be a middle ground. I've quite enjoyed some of his novels, myself, and rather disliked others -- so even in my own regard, there's no middle ground.

For me I have read it several times and consider it a foundation block of realms novels. Now the druidhome trilogy on the other hand.....not even a solid "eh" from me!
It goes the other way for me. I found the Druidhome books to be enjoyable, much more so than the Moonshae books. |

I always felt that Astinus was just tweaking Raistlin's pride!

| I double-posted a couple of times. After you refresh the scroll, you should be able to see an icon that lets you delete the last post. Unfortunately, though, I think you lose the option once someone else (like me) comes along and posts in the scroll after you. |

| Just started The Godcatcher....so far so good.....except I tire of reading the words Spellscarred, Spellplague and Rituals(not this book in particular, but in all 4e books.)...but I will press on as I am enjoying the lead character and the"mad woman". |

I started rereading the Druidhome books again (it must be fifteen years or so since the last time) because of this subject. I am nearing the finish of the first book and its OK. I like Niles and I think in some ways the book is better than the first series, but it does lack some of the charm of the originals. |

Finished Ghost King. Not bad. We'll see what happens in his next book. I could be disappointed. Almost done with Wrath of the Blue Lady. Really like it. If I'm not mistaken, Mel Odom likes to use books as the items being searched for. I enjoy that, something a little different. Enjoy the characters also. |

I don't think there is going to be another book after that one, sadly. I have gathered from various sources that Salvatore meant Ghost King to be the last book on Drizzt. Which is a shame, now that Jarlaxle and Athrogate are among the group. I will miss Cadderly, too.
In the press release from Wotc , that announced his new 6 novel contract , it was stated all 6 featured Drizzt. And his last novel in the old contract due out around October , that would be 7 more D novels

| I finished Tymora's Luck last week. The entire series of novels by Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb was just tremendous, with colorful characters that kept having me want to come back for more. I am now currently reading the Shadowmask by RA and Geno Salvatore. |

Indeed! I've reread those and Elaine's books more than any other Realms novels -- and more than a fair number of non-Realms novels, too! |

Yes Shadowmask is good (as well as the other one). It's geared toward a younger audience (early teen I think, so nothing like The Hobbit, which is good, but, well, quirky style I guess), but very good story and a quick read. I enjoyed it, great way to introduce young readers to the realms. |

I started "Crucible: The Trial of Cyric the Mad".
Prince of Lies was an exceptionally good book and although Troy Dennings style does not thrill me so far en Crucible, the realms content is really good so far. So I hope it can keep up with Prince of Lies. |

Finished "Crucible: The Trial of Cyric the Mad".
It's been some time since I read a FR novel that I enjoyed as much as this one! I love Malik as the main character and I will probably have to read Return of the Archwizards only for seeing more of him! (Question: is it worth reading the Archwizards series and does he have an interesting part in it?)
Furthermore the whole story is just epic and very realmsian.
The first three books of the Avatar series did not fascinate me at all. Dull writing style, no setting atmosphere...
But Prince of Lies and Crucible are easily among the best realms novels I have read.
