I've got too many other books going at the same time, however, so I'll probably be reading it on and off -- which is usually not something I like to do with Ed's books. I really do prefer devoting my whole attention to each of Ed's works, individually, but I'm just too eager to wait until I've finished everything else that I'm currently working through, before I start EMD.
Ouch! If I did that with an Ed book, I would be TOTALLY lost since his writing style requires that I pay EXTREME attention to what is going on and who is who.
Hmm, I remember while reading El in Hell, I stopped at chapter four and picked up a Feist novel. That doesn't mean I disliked El in Hell; they are both equally fun so I had to read them on and off.

I am in a hiatus from reading Realms books since May. Been busy exploring the worlds of Mercedes Lackey, Raymond Feist, C.S. Friedman, and some others. I saw Circle of Skulls in a bookstore. But I'm kinda sick of Waterdeep already. Can anyone point out any interesting occurrences in that book that I might find interesting? |

I, too, spent some time away from the Realms recently, though I'm going back thru the Danilo and Arilyn books right now. I share your interest in Feist, but I can't stand Mercedes Lackey. |

Lackey is hardly my favorite, though. I only read three of her books - yet. And I am not sure if I am going to read more. Once I am done with Friedman, I'm gonna check out Janny Wurts, who I must admit wouldn't have gotten my attention (despite that our bookstores have lots of her novels) had it not been to her collaboration with Feist. I'll see if she fares writing alone. And there's more to my list...so I don't know when I can spend time again for the Realms.

I really have to return to the Danilo books. Not only is my favourite character in the Realms, but I'm fairly certain I've missed some previous musical Realmslore during prior readings. Time to correct that. |

All I've read by Wurts is her Empire trilogy, but I found it very enjoyable. You learn a lot more about the Empire, the Great Ones, the cho-ja, and even see more of Kelewan. Pug puts in a couple of appearances, too -- one of which is his destruction of the Imperial Games, seen from another angle. Hokanu of the Shinzawai plays a prominent part, as well. |

I haven't read yet The Empire trilogy and the Riftwar Legends. Anyway, that scene in The Magician where Pug destroyed the Imperial Games surprised me; I wasn't prepared yet for such display in that part of the book since Pug hardly used his power, and there he went blasting the entire stadium. But the story started and ended pretty well- 'tis one of my favorites. And of course, as I prefer long and detailed novels, I like the Author's Preferred Edition more than the original.
I like where the story of the entire Riftwar Cycle is going. The legions of demons are by far Midkemia's biggest threat. I wonder if the arrogant taredhel would really ally with the Conclave and the rest of Midkemia... Feist's characterization never lets me down. I just wish that he didn't find the need to kill Miranda...I am having a feeling that Miranda and Caleb's death is not the end of Pug's misery, that perhaps in the book following "At the Gates of Darkness" Magnus will die, as there are a couple of scenes in that book where Pug admitted to himself the possibility of Magnus's death.

Finished "The Wyvern's Spur".
Man, what an excellent novel! Already liked Azure Bonds, but this one was even more enjoyable. Ok, the end messed it up a bit converting a nice local story without much fighting into an almost RSE with the villain flying his (Spoilers censored) over (Spoilers censored). Quite out of place, but so what!?
As Azure Bonds, the novel style is pretty naive and sometimes feels like a book for young readers, but in terms of realms flavor it is absolutely great!
Question: is Song of the Saurials worth the read or better jump at once to Finder's Bane? |

Read Song of the Saurials. It's a good tale in its own right, and sets up some bits of Finder's Bane. Also read Masquerade, a sequel to the Finder's Stone trilogy that focuses on Alias, Dragonbait, Olive, and some new faces. |

| Thanks Sage and Wooly! So it is recommendable to also read Masquerade before Finder's Bane? |

Agreed. You can pretty much enjoy one without having read the other.

| I will eventually get through the Maztica trilogy. The first book I finished in the bus on my trip to NYC. Second one I have so many projects going on that I haven't had much time to sit and read (+ DMing two campaigns takes up my time away from the Xbox and PS3 lol) |

The Azure Bonds trilogy sat on my bookshelf for a long time, and when I did finally get around to reading it found that it is every bit as good as everyone here has said -- definitely some of the best FR books I've read, and I'm getting to the point that I've read enough for that to have some meaning.
Recently picked up Dangerous Games at a local used book store. Only one book of the trilogy, and book two to boot, but I couldn't pass up anything so blatantly about Netheril, especially when finding old FR novels is so challenging here. |

| Just finished The Silent Blade of Drizzt Series. However, I can`t be sure about The Spine of the World since Wulfgar isn't my favorite character in the series. |
The best thing about the future is that it comes only one day at a time. |

Have a bunch of Harpers books. Still getting through the first one ("The Parched Sea"). The second one I hear is pretty good (1st Songs and Swords book).
Might just read some more Drizzt books after this... or Cleric Quintet. Still gonna at least finish "The Parched Sea" before I start any other books. |

Elaine is the one that turned me onto the Dresden Files... and I love that series, now.

The second Harpers book is Elfshadow... In my opinion, it's one of the best Realms books, period. I got my first copy for Christmas of 1991, and finished it that night.
It's one of the few Realms books that I readily recommend at any time. |
