A simple question this time (10 points to whoever beats Arivia to it )

What are the rules governing a spellcaster casting from a scroll that is a higher level than he/she is?

Additionally what are the rules in a similar situation, but with a use magic device check rather than being a spellcaster?

Thanks Scribes

" If the user meets all the requirements noted above, and her caster level is at least equal to the spell’s caster level, she can automatically activate the spell without a check. If she meets all three requirements but her own caster level is lower than the scroll spell’s caster level, then she has to make a caster level check (DC = scroll’s caster level + 1) to cast the spell successfully. If she fails, she must make a DC 5 Wisdom check to avoid a mishap (see Scroll Mishaps, below). A natural roll of 1 always fails, whatever the modifiers. "

Use Magic device Use a scroll, DC = 20 + caster level.

In either case there are chances of mishap.

"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards."
"Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding.
"After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first."

Hey,

you usually say that to me. :)

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Arivia would win, if it came to rules. :) I'm not that much into 3/3.5e's rules. Now if it was a lore quiz then I might have a better chance of winning. :)
