God, I hope not-mostly because I'm not in favor of them needing miniatures, or the actual plot-related characters(Mordankainen, Elminster, and even Drizzt and such) being set to this sort of thing-and also because of the lack of use in RPG format. I have no problem with Lidda, Halfling Rogue, Cleric of x, and Warrior of y, but I dislike seeing people swap Drizzt for Elminster or some such-not caring for the characters, just their stats. Of course, I guess this is my minority view coming out again, hmm? |

Such a swap would bring out some even more interesting boasts on message boards....

I actual got my hands on my first (harbinger) entry pack and decided to give it a go. I can't say I was overly impressed with the painting quality and a few of the figs were squished down near flat. Still they will work nice for mass battles using the mass combat system during my campaigns.
Thanks for that site Dargoth. I have also seen many of the individual figs on Ebay. But I would like to ask anyone who has put forth the effort of buying actual packs...how many (average) do you need to buy to get a set? I notice that some sellers are selling a case of Dragoneye 16 packs for around US$100.
So if my math is correct that comes to 128 figs from the Dragoneye line (a line of 60). Has anyone evey completed a set with one case? or do you just end up with loads of doubles?

The painting has gotten better, check out the Dwarven Defender in Dragoneye and the Ragnara in Archfiends.
Rule number one dont buy expansions to get a complete set, trade or buy singles to make up any your missing. A good foundation is to buy a Case which is 16 expansions that will leave you 4 short (there are 20 rares in a set and only 1 rare in each expansion) |

If I get any of these things, I'll only be doing it for display value. As such, they're pricey. And I also don't really care for more than one, even of orcs. I also don't mind getting the Chosen or other bigwigs.
I just thought I'd let y'all see a different perspective. |

Never said I was. After all, I'd have to be collecting before I could be a collector, right?
But perhaps I'll take you up on that sometime. |

We need a phrase for the person who would want only a few minis from an entire collection....nitpicker? |

I would say that I am a 'collector'. I purchase them mainly for their display value, as Bookwyrm stated earlier. The only difficulty I've found with this method though, is having to find a place to effectively display them .

Ah you have yet to fail your saving throw
Every time you buy a D&D mini you must make a will check however every time you buy one you also take a cumulative -1 penalty to you save |

Dargoth, I've been hearing that the Australian retailers are only going to be supplied with a very limited number of this expansion. Do you know anything about this?

That explains why I found so many of the items detailed to appear "cheap", at least in terms of Australian currency.
